GHALCA Boss Kudjoe Fianoo Kicks Against Ghana Premier League Players’ Salary Cut

President of the Ghana League Clubs Association, Kudjoe Fianoo is not in support of the possibilities to cut payments from league players due to the COVID-19 impact.

The former Ashanti Gold Chiefs Executive Officer feels that player’s salaries are already quite low to face further reductions.

“In calling for slashing of players' salaries in our diaspora, we are all aware of the amount paid players which some of them are even owed for months,” Kudjoe Fianoo said via Kumasi FM.

“Will club executives even have the courage to say this to their players in this situation?” he quizzed.

“I have held talks with the GFA president to know the next line of action in this situation. The welfare of the players is very important and we will find a possible solution to it,” he added.

Kudjoe Fianoo also makes points on talks about possibly abandoning the league season, saying it is rather too premature to make that decision at this stage.

“It is too early to call for the termination of the league, our situation is different from other countries calling for the cancellation of their league season due to COVID-19.

“Ours is very critical considering how the momentum had built in bringing the love back after the Anas exposè. This is not the time to talk about terminating it, we must consult all stakeholders which is ongoing,” he added.
