Hearts of Oak Midfielder Emmanuel Nettey Eyes Black Stars Call-Up

Hearts of Oak midfielder Emmanuel Nettey is confident that he will earn a call-up into the Ghana senior national team squad if he continues to progress at club level.
The 24-year-old was overlooked by Black Stars boss CK Akonnor for the 2021 AFCON qualifying doubleheader against Sudan but he is pretty confident that an opportunity will arrive in the future.
He has impressed in his first season with the Phobians but was snubbed in Akonnor’s maiden call-up where four local-based players got the nod. However, the former Inter Allies youngster is not disappointed and is targeting a start to his international career with hard work when the season resumes.

“It did not affect me in any way because there are so many Ghanaians playing, others are plying their trade outside, they weren’t called so if I am doing my best I think I can get better,” he told Citisports.
“Because he has given first slots to the local players and this one of many matches to come, I just need to set up my game and then make sure in the next call-ups I should do my best and have a call-up.”
